Answers to Frequently Asked Questions
For our weekly classes, we don’t take bookings, so just turn up and pay on the door. We recommend buying tickets online for our other workshops and events, to get the best price, and to guarantee a place, but it’s often possible to pay on the door.
Absolutely not. Lots of people arrive at our classes and events on their own, but they often leave with friends! We rotate partners in the classes (but you can choose to stay with one partner), and most people change partners for each tune when dancing socially.
Beginner classes start at 8.15pm each Wednesday. The Improver class starts at 7.15pm. You can check times and venues for all of our events in the Facebook listings.

Comfortable loose fitting clothes for classes. Most people make a bit more of an effort for our weekend events, but there’s no dress code as such. Vintage outfits are popular with some attendees, but watch out for synthetic fabrics, which don’t work well on a sweaty dancefloor!
We’re all about the 1930s and 40s, and that means Lindy Hop, which evolved in Harlem, New York at that time, alongside swing music. We will occasionally dabble in associated dances such as Charleston, Shag, Balboa & Blues. We don’t care so much for the dances that followed the swing era though, such as Jive, East Coast & West Coast ‘Swing’.
